CFU Des Moines Transport Ring- Partial Outage Thursday 9th December 2021 15:55:12

We are showing a loss of signal on our OTN nodes between Hiawatha, IA and Iowa City, Iowa. Protected circuits have flipped to their respective backup paths, non-protected circuits are down. We have contacted our 3rd party fiber provider and they are investigating. No ETA or ETR.

The dark fiber provider has confirmed repairs are complete and they are hands off.

The damaged fiber in the hand hole has been repaired and services are currently restored. The fiber provider is still working to complete the repairs so we continue to monitor this link.

The fiber provider has located additional damage in a hand hole, and a splicer is on site preparing it for repair.

This link has gone offline again, and we have not received an update yet from the fiber provider that they have completed repairs. We will update again once we have more information.

Splicers have repaired our fibers and continue to work on the remaining fibers in the cable. We will continue to monitor until we get confirmation they have completed repairs.

The splicer is on site, current estimated time to repair is 3:00 PM.

The dark fiber provider has located the damage and a splicer is headed to the site now. They expect them to be on site at 10:30 AM, but still have no estimated time to repair.

From our 3rd Party Fiber vender- " Damage has been found and the splicer is enroute with an ETA of 10:30AM. We have no ETTR at this time."

Update from 3rd party fiber vender- "Crews have been re-dispatched and are currently looking for damaged fiber at this time."

The dark fiber provider has identified an issue and dispatched an outside plant crew to isolate and repair the damage. Not estimated time to repair currently.

3rd Party Fiber vender update as of 6:14pm. "Fiber Tech will be on site at 6pm. No ETR"
