Optical Transport Disruption Between Cedar Falls and Hubbard Monday 10th April 2023 15:07:34
Our optical transport system has seen a loss of signal between our Lloyd Lane node in Cedar Falls and the node in Hubbard Iowa on the west side of our optical transport ring to Des Moines. We are contacting the dark fiber provider to investigate.
The dark fiber provider has completed restoration of this span and we have confirmed that connectivity was restored for our equipment.
The dark fiber provider has informed us the necessary supplies have been brought on site now, and approximately 700 feet of aerial cable will need to be hung to repair the damage. They do not yet have an estimated time to repair.
Our dark fiber provider has notified us their outside plant team has located downed utility poles which damaged aerial fiber. Their crew is working to install a temporary fiber cable to restore services but no estimated time to repair is currently available.
The dark fiber provider outside plant team is enroute with ETA of 45 minutes to perform OTDR trace of the damaged fiber span in effort of locating the damage to the fiber cable. No estimated time to repair is available yet.
