Our optical transport path north to Minneapolis currently appears to be experiencing an issue between Cedar Falls and Mason City. This has caused an outage for any connectivity to Minneapolis.
The damage has been repaired and connectivity has been restored.
Dark fiber provider has located damage and has crews on site working to replace the damaged fiber span. No estimated time to repair provided yet.
OTDR trace on the RX fiber from Cedar Falls to Mason City is only going 24,000 feet. Dark fiber provider has been notified and will work to identify location of damage and repair. No estimated time to repair currently.
Further trouble shooting indicates potential partial cut as OADM in Mason City is showing no received light. Dark fiber provider is en route as well for further investigation.
OTDR trace of the fibers to Mason City have not identified any break in the path, and it appears there is light on the receive fiber at 1509nm which appears to align with the optical supervisory channel of the equipment. We investigating the potential this is a module fault.
