Loss of connectivity to Chicago Thursday 14th August 2025 12:22:38

It appears we have lost connectivity to our router in Chicago. This likely caused a brief disruption for some Internet services as routing reconverged to alternative paths. We are investigating the cause for this loss of connectivity and will update when we have additional information.

The connection has stayed stable for a few hours now and appears to have been resolved.

We heard back from the transport provider. They saw a brief reduction in optical signal level between two devices in different parts of the facility in Chicago. They haven't narrowed down the root cause yet but continue to investigate. Currently they have found no indications that it was the result of a hardware fault, and suspect it was a disruption of cross connect fibers between the different parts of the facility.

Our connectivity was restored shortly after we began to investigate. We are watching for further disruptions and will continue to investigate for a potential cause.
