OTN Fiber Cut 06APR2021 - DSM RIng Tuesday 6th April 2021 17:43:39

There is a fiber cut between DSM and Ames, our fiber vendor is aware and investigating the issue. No ETR. Protected circuits on the Ring are unaffected.

Fiber has been repaired as of 02:53, circuits are now normal. Closing incident.

On-site crews have located and dug up damaged fiber. A new handhole will be installed and 350ft. of fiber will be replaced. A small bore will be created to go around damaged conduit to complete fiber pull. Splicers are en route and will start prepping West end of span, ETA 30 minutes. No ETTR is available.

Crews have dug 6ft at damage site and continue to probe for fiber. No ETTR at this time.

The field techs report the fiber was cut in half and crews are attempting to find the buried fiber. Locates are on-site, no ETA for completion. ETTR is unavailable.

Fiber carrier has passed on the following information- Crews have isolated and found damage at NW 62nd Ave & NW 54th Ct. in Johnston, IA. Locates are en route and a construction crew is on site standing by. No ETTR is available
